ActionScript 3.0

Since I did not get to stick around for class I am not sure what you guys covered. I decided to take something out of chapter 6 and discuss it.
ActionScript 3.0 - from what I understand it adds to the usage of Flash, and is not too complicated. I came across a site that suggests that it should be the first programming language we use. The syntax is somewhat like other C-Style languages. It is structured like javascript and would provide a good foundation for beginning web developers.
Overall,  it sounds like it will help in learning other languages in the future.

Here is the link I got the information from : http://tiffanybbrown.com/2010/08/23/why-actionscript-3-0-should-be-your-first-programming-language/

Sketching the Puppet

 Another great class on Wed.
The bone tool brings to life all of our sketches. It can be used to connect separate movie clips, and it can be used to add movement to shapes by creating several bones.
I am trying to figure out how to get my sketch up on the blog. My scanner is not working and my phone for some reason will not send the pic to my email. I will hopefully have it up before the end of tonight. If not I will draw it in illustrator and place that up as a last resort.
Anyways, my puppet is a monster who has long arms that almost touch the ground. His body and head are connected as one part and his legs are thin with big feet. I think I will use the bone tool to create movement in the arms, hands, legs and feet. I might try to create movement in his big toe by creating an object outside of the puppet and attach it to the toe, something like we went over in class. The background is going to be a dark alley that doesnt have to much detail other than recognizing some of the objects placed in it such as trash can, cars or light pole.

Decided to go with just a city theme behind the monster. The idea is the typical monster in a city destroying stuff.

I love this class. There is a big difference from learning online vs attending onsite. It was great to finally make it to this weeks class and cover all the information that we did.

I enjoyed working with the motion tweens. Motion tweens create movements in Flash. It allows you to not only change movement from one location to the next, but also the size, rotate it or distort it. USES ONE OBJECT ON LAYER - HAS TO BE A SYMBOL... The shape tween does not need to be a symbol and there can be more than one graphic per layer.
